Our bank turned us down for a mortgage and a friend recommended Stephen Aitcheson. He took the time to understand our current finances and provided us with some great options. He was understanding, explained the entire process to us and took care of every detail making the entire process stress free.
Accessing equity
Refinancing, a line of credit and a second mortgage all reach the same equity by very different routes, with very different consequences.

Branches routinely decline contractors and business owners over paperwork, even when the income is clearly there. Finding the lender who reads self-employed files properly is a broker's job.

Before you book: good to know
What does it cost to refinance before my term ends? Breaking a mortgage mid-term triggers a prepayment penalty, and lenders calculate it in different ways. Stephen requests the exact figure from your lender so you can weigh it against what you would gain, rather than estimating.
I'm self-employed. Is that a problem? It's a documentation question more than an affordability one. Some lenders are far more comfortable with self-employed income than others, and matching you to one of those is exactly what a broker is for.
Can I use equity for something other than the house? Often yes. What matters is the structure you use to reach it, and Stephen goes through the trade-offs with you.
